XXIV - Questions and almost Answers...

Questions and almost Answers...

The most dreaded question.
"So what do you plan on doing after this?"
Truth is, most of the time I don't know how to answer that.

I might say, "Oh I want to do ______", but in my head I'm going "most probably...NOT."
I'm very confused. I like doing a lot of things, but am usually unsure about what I can do professionally. What can support the lifestyle that I'm used to and also be something that I somewhat enjoy doing.

I read somewhere (probably Buzzfeed) that one of the things you experience in your 20s is the realization that its very tough to actually make money off of what you like doing. I can't even tell you how true that is. Photography, music, writing, art, philosophy - I really chose the best fields. If you're from India like me, or are settled there, then you know what I'm talking about. Especially in a city like Delhi, where everyone wants to get work done through the cheapest means possible.

The job opportunities here and the minimum wage fixture would be the main things tempting me to stay on in the UK. But home is where my heart is.

Most of the time when I'm asked the above question I'm pretty truthful and answer flat out, "I don't know really", and then feel like finishing it with a Homer Simpson "Doh!".
I usually feel the gaze in front of me reflect either pity, skepticism or amusement with that answer. This can turn into a sudden moment of awkward silence, but I usually save it by redirecting the question to someone else or changing the topic entirely.

What I try to avoid is turning that meeting into a therapy session of "maybe"s, "if"s and "I wish"s.

Now, however, I'm happy to admit that I sort of know where I want to head. It'll probably be something related to the things I've covered in this blog - travel, photography, writing, editing and of course, music. There's so much you can do with a blog itself, so hopefully, I'll be able to come up with some interesting stuff soon. I have a few things lined up, but no time to do it so far, but if you're patient than I promise it won't disappoint.

Hope you've found it interesting so far...whoever you are. :)
